Hypnosis is a natural state of relaxation and is something that we experience on a daily basis. Examples of natural hypnosis include daydreaming, being engrossed in a film, a piece of music or a really good book. It focusses our mind on something to the apparent exclusion of everything else, this is when we are in hypnosis.

The deepest form of hypnosis occurs when we are sleep. In clinical hypnosis, the client is guided so that the clutter of the analytical part of our mind is quietened fostering a state of calmness. This state of deep relaxation allows the deeper part of the mind in which habits, fears and phobias are stored the space it requires to release unwanted negative behavior, beliefs, thoughts and emotions that maybe stuck. These patterns maybe released completely or reframed appropriately as the individual chooses, the therapist acting as a guide only through this process. At all times the client is in control of the therapy session and are freely able to communicate with their therapist. At any time, should they wish the client can end the hypnotic state. It is not possible to take someone into hypnosis against their wish.

In taking clients through relaxation and hypnosis, should they choose, clients successfully change perspectives of past experiences which maybe hindering them in their present lives. They can conquer previous limitations, liberating them from constrictions and enhancing their ability to enjoy life to the full.
